Hi, I’m Matthew Woolard from Melbourne Australia, I thought I would send you some pictures of my restored 1981 Tf Cortina Ghia S/wagon.  Except for an alarm and stereo system the car has all its original features, such as a 4.1 6 cylinder crossflow alloy head engine, with power steering, air conditioning, electric aerial, velour seats and door trims,  alloy wheels, tacho, oil pressure gauge and 3 speed auto.  I purchased the car in 1995 when I was 16 years old, the car then was in very bad condition, except there was no rust in the frame work and very little rust in the door skins.  I’ve always liked Cortina’s because I’ve grown up with them, my dad has owned five of them, from a Mk1 to a Tf.   My dad and I began work on the car in 95 and we are still putting the finishing touches on it four years latter, but all the major work is complete.  I will supply you with a rough list of work done on the car.

 *  Replaced all suspension bushes front and rear, installed gas shocker’s

*  Replaced gearbox with a new 3 speed auto Borg-Warner.

*  Stripped interior, replaced carpet, restored velour seats front and rear

*  Replaced console and electric aerial

*  Installed a heavy duty sway bar, replaced the brake master cylinder

*  Rebuilt speedo

*  Replaced tail gate door, had respray and rust cut out of doors

*  Replaced exhaust system and weather strips on all 4 doors

*  Resprayed plastic bumper bars

*  Serviced brakes and original motor, replaced carby, leads, battery and Welsh plugs

   Anyway this list goes on, but I think that’s enough.  The car is garaged, kept spotless and maintained properly.  Its always a pleasure to drive and tends to stand out now in her eighteenth year.  I plan to keep the car for as long as possible, it contains to many good memories for me to sell it, I’m thinking of joining a car club.  Well, thanks for this great internet page dedicated to a great car, keep up the good work and good luck for the future.

                                     Best Regards,

                                                             Matthew.
